When the uploaded image’s shortest side is under 2000px, our tests show hover-to-zoom is unavailable. It is not “slightly softer zoom” — the magnifier simply does not appear for desktop shoppers on the listing page. Etsy Help recommends at least 2000px; it does not print the sentence “we disable zoom.”
We document the official recommendation in Rule 01, and we label zoom status as TagPeek’s observation so we do not over-claim.
What buyers experience: they hover, nothing happens, and they may assume the photo is low quality or the seller hid detail. For jewelry, prints, fabric, and miniature work, that moment is a trust hit even if the rest of the shop is strong.
Sellers often discover the issue only when a buyer asks for a close-up or when a tool like TagPeek flags zoom-unavailable on the live URL. Shop Manager thumbnails do not always make the failure obvious.
Fix: upload a genuine high-resolution master (short side ≥2000px), or follow our conservative re-upload recipe. Upscaling in Photoshop can pass the pixel gate but may look soft — TagPeek blur heuristics on local files help you catch that before publish.
Research tools will not tell you whether zoom looks available on the listing you already published. TagPeek is built for that post-publish check on the buyer view.
我们实测:低于 2000px 短边则放大不可用,不是画质略差。官方原文是「建议」。
买家悬停无反应会损害信任,尤其手作与细节类商品。
用 TagPeek 在已发布 listing 上核验 zoom 观察结果。
