Why your new Etsy listings get no views

为什么你的 Etsy 新品完全没曝光

  1. New listings rarely get a free push anymore — Etsy tests a small audience first.
  2. Four quiet filters: photo resolution, first-photo size, tags, and the front of the title.
  3. Spend ten minutes checking; wait a few days after you fix before judging views.

You listed something new. A few days later: zero views. Not low views — zero.

This is the most common question I see in Etsy seller forums, and the answers people give are usually unhelpful ("just wait", "Etsy hates new shops"). Here's what's actually going on.

Etsy doesn't give new listings a boost anymore

There used to be a visible bump for new listings — a couple of weeks where Etsy pushed them a bit to test the waters. Sellers who've been around for years remember this clearly. It's mostly gone.

What Etsy does now: it shows your listing to a small number of people and watches what happens. If nobody clicks, it stops showing it. Your listing isn't hidden. It's just not being picked.

The filtering happens before anyone sees it

Etsy runs your listing through a set of thresholds before it enters the rotation. Miss one and your listing gets less distribution — not removed, just quieter.

Four things that affect it:

Photo resolution

The shortest side needs to be at least 2000px for hover-zoom to work. Below that, Etsy turns zoom off. You won't see a warning, and your listing looks completely normal to you.

First photo size

Your first photo needs to be at least 635px. Below that, Etsy treats the listing as incomplete and demotes it in search.

Tags

Etsy gives you 13. Most sellers use 8–10, and a few of those just repeat words already in the title. A tag that duplicates your title doesn't add reach.

Title length in the right places

You have 140 characters, but mobile search shows about 40. If your first 40 characters are all adjectives, buyers searching for the product name never see you.

How to check in 10 minutes

Open one of your listings and do this:

  1. Right-click your first photo, save it, and look at the image size. If the short side is under 2000px, you've found a problem.
  2. Count your tags. Are all 13 used? Do any repeat words already in your title?
  3. Copy your title into a text editor. Count to character 40. What word does it break on?

If two or three of these fail, that's most of why the views aren't coming. I start here before I touch ads or rewrite the whole shop.

What fixing it actually changes

Not instant. Etsy's search has to re-index, which takes a few days. But listings that get these fixed usually start showing movement within a week — not because Etsy rewarded you, but because the listing stopped being filtered out of the pool.

One more thing that isn't about the listing

If your whole shop has never made a sale, your shop-level signals are weak. That's a separate problem with a separate fix. Getting a few sales from anywhere you can — friends, local markets, social — nudges the search treatment in your favor.

If you'd rather check all of it at once instead of going one by one, TagPeek runs 12 checks on a listing and links each result to Etsy's own documentation.
