Rule 05 · When zoom is just off

规则 05 · 放大直接关了

I treat a missing zoom as a trust problem, not a tech footnote. Buyers hover, nothing happens, and they often assume the photo is weak.

Rule 05

What this means: in our tests, when the short side is under 2000px, desktop zoom does not appear. Etsy’s Help still asks for at least 2000px — see Rule 01.

If you ignore it: the listing still opens. Shoppers cannot check stitches, grain, or print edges. For jewelry, fabric, and prints, that moment feels like you hid the detail.

How I fix it: I re-export a real high-res file (short side ≥2000px) and re-upload. Blowing up a soft 1200px file can clear the size number and still look soft when buyers zoom — I check the file locally in TagPeek first.

FAQ

Will mobile buyers see hover-zoom?

Hover-to-zoom is mainly a desktop move. Phones can pinch-zoom in the browser, but Etsy still expects the same upload size.

Can I test zoom without publishing?

Yes. I drop the file into TagPeek’s free local checker first, then confirm on the live listing after upload.

Does fixing zoom promise more orders?

No. TagPeek does not estimate sales. When zoom works, detail-minded buyers can actually check the craft — that is it.

Image-size guidance: Etsy recommends at least 2000px on both sides. This tool measures image dimensions; it cannot establish live zoom availability from dimensions alone. Verify zoom on the listing itself.
