Rule 07 · Sized preview links mislead

规则 07 · 带尺寸的预览链接会骗人

I used to trust a link that looked “2000 wide” and assume my upload was fine. That number can be a resized preview — not proof of what I uploaded.

Rule 07

What this means: Etsy serves many sized preview links. Asking for a “2000-wide” preview can return an image that is 2000px on the edge even when your uploaded file was smaller — the preview was scaled up for display.

If you ignore it: you think you “passed 2000px,” while zoom stays off because the real upload is still under the floor. A bigger preview request can even stretch past the true file and hide softness until a buyer zooms.

How I fix it: I stop guessing from sized links. I measure the full-size image when the page exposes it, or I measure the file on my computer before upload. TagPeek’s extension prefers full-size when available; the free site tool reads your local file directly. Pair with Rule 06 and Rule 01.

If I keep notes on listings, I write down the measured full-size dimensions — not the size token in a preview link — so I do not fool myself after the next page change.

FAQ

Can I force a full-size image from any listing link?

Only on pages you are allowed to open in your browser. TagPeek reads the page you opened — it does not bulk-fetch other shops.

Does TagPeek change my Etsy image links?

No. When the page exposes a full-size image, we use it to score pixels. We do not edit your listing.

Is any fixed-size preview link my real file?

Treat sized previews as previews until you confirm on the full-size image or the file on your computer.

Image-size guidance: Etsy recommends at least 2000px on both sides. This tool measures image dimensions; it cannot establish live zoom availability from dimensions alone. Verify zoom on the listing itself.
