Rule 06 · The 794px preview trap

规则 06 · 794px 预览陷阱

I used to right-click Save on my own listing and measure that file. It was usually a 794px preview — not the photo I uploaded.

Rule 06

What this means: the listing page often shows a smaller preview so the page loads fast. That preview is commonly around 794px wide. It is not proof of your upload size.

If you ignore it: you may “pass” a size check on the wrong file, leave zoom off, and wonder why buyers cannot magnify detail.

How I fix it: I measure the file on my computer — Lightroom, Canva, or the export folder — with the free image size checker. On a live page, TagPeek tries to read the full-size image when Etsy exposes it. See also Rule 07.

FAQ

Is the page preview always 794px?

794px is the common size we see. Etsy may serve other sized previews. The lesson is the same — the page save is not your original.

How do I check the real upload safely?

Open your own listing and let TagPeek read what the page already shows you — or measure the file on your computer. We do not scrape other shops from our servers.

Does a sharp 794px preview mean zoom is on?

No. A preview cannot confirm the original dimensions or live zoom behavior. Inspect the original and test the live page.
